What Would Happen if Yellowstone Erupted?
If the Yellowstone volcano was to erupt in our life time it would not be as bad as it is cracked up to be. If it did fully erupt half the continent wouldn't be covered in lava and it wouldn't be the ending of all mankind. A third of the lava spewed out of the volcano would just fall back into the volcano. The rest of the lava and ash would fall near the blast site or would go up into the atmosphere. The blast radius wouldn't exceed more than 40 miles, most of it would stay within the park. The entire eruption would take place over the course of a whole week not all at once (Newitz 2013).
